567 benefits from a diverse group of families that comprise our Pack. To celebrate this, we set out to host a Pot Luck on March 12th, 2020. As we got closer to the date, it became clear that it wasn’t wise to host a food-sharing event in a school Cafeteria with a pandemic starting to find inroads within the United States. In particular, via airport hubs in major U.S. cities (Chicago).
We felt it was wise to postpone the event. It turned out, we were right as schools and other bodies began to do the same a day later on March 13, 2020.
In lieu, we’d publish a Pack Cook Book of the recipes we will share with each other as soon as it is safe to do so. Please have a look at the PDF version below and add your own recipes by March 12th, 2021 for inclusion in the 2021 print edition of the book! While the pandemic spoiled our plans, in a way, it made this legacy possible, that we may share our cultures with each other for years and years to come through food.
If I’m an advocate for anything, it’s to move. As far as you can, as much as you can. Across the ocean, or simply across the river. Walk in someone else’s shoes, or at least eat their food. It’s a plus for everybody.”
