Pinewood Derby 2021

The theme of the 2020-2021 Scout Year “Welp, that was different!” But we perservered.

Due to continued inability to use our Chartered Organization’s building to meet, we had to reinvent the wheel this year when it came to Pinewood Derby. But – that is the name of the game when it comes to Scouting – to always be prepared. Adapt and overcome.

We collected the track out of the school basement, had a Leader Dad with a connection to a building warehouse that was willing to host us, came up with inventive camera angles, asked an enthusiastic friend of a Pack Dad to be our MC and, ta-da – it went off without a hitch.

Wow. What an experience. A HUGE thank you to the incredible ensemble of adult leaders we have that all played a part in making today happen. From design voting ideas, to Zoom tricks, to friends who are amazing Pinewood Derby announcers – who knew! (thanks, Hugh!). Official results are in your email inboxes. An edited video will be coming soon so you can relive the magic. Hopefully everyone enjoyed today and *maybe* we’ll keep a few of the cool parts of a Pandemic Pinewood moving forward into 2022!
